LIVING IN HARMONY WITH NATURE

Cradle to Cradle – meaning from origin to origin – is a concept for a complete and consistent recycling economy created in the 1990s by German chemist Michael Braungart and American architect William McDonough. According to this concept, the human being, itself a creature and part of nature, should live and produce goods in such a way that no waste is created, but rather that everything is fed back into cycles of reuse.

It differentiates between biological nutrients as consumer goods (i.e. products made from degradable substances or with limited lifespans such as textiles made from natural fibres, cosmetic products and food) and ‘technical nutrients’. According to the Cradle to Cradle principle, the latter originate in consumer goods, which are products designed for longer-term use and whose components are high-quality materials such as plastics and metals that are designed to last. Our Seegrass products are included in this consumer goods category.

SUSTAINABILITY

Seegrass floorings of every product line are recyclable and, when the time comes for their replacement, they can be removed by Seegrass Service and recycled, if requested by our customers. This means that the technical nutrients are rendered useful as a dynamic and lasting product, and new products of equal value are made out of them.

Cradle to Cradle is a forward-looking concept aimed at lasting sustainability which we subscribe to and which we strive to implement because we believe in it.
